Gujarat makes innovative celebration of ‘Rashtriya Swachhta Diwas’ with launching hand washing-sanitization campaign by 500,000 women from 3,800 centres

 


Ahmedabad: Today through a video conference from Gandhinagar, in a state-wide celebration of the 151st Gandhi Jayanti as ‘Rashtriya Swachhta Diwas’ (National Cleanliness Day), Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani as an innovative idea launched a simultaneous hand washing-sanitization campaign with over 500,000 women from more than 3,800 places across the state.

 

Addressing these women through a video conference, the Chief Minister said that during this Corona transition time we should adopt Gandhiji’s mantra of ‘Swachhta – Swasthta taya Prabhuta’ (Divinity exists in cleanliness and healthiness) to win the war against Corona pandemic by washing our hands more frequently, wearing face-mask and maintaining social distancing.

 

He further stated that Gandhiji was firmly advocating for cleanliness. Not only this, in making choice between the ‘Freedom’ and ‘Cleanliness’, latter was the first choice for Mahatma Gandhi.

 

Following this ideal of Gandhiji, our prime minister has undertaken the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and has created India’s image as a clean nation at the world level, Mr. Rupani said. Therefore, he termed today’s hand-wash campaign as ‘Right Job at Right Time’.

 

The Chief Minister also expressed confident that this innovative campaign of Gujarat women power would ultimate win the long battle against the Corona. The hand washing-sanitization campaign would spread awareness in the rural areas of Gujarat, he added.

 

As a part of this programme, organized by The Women and Child Welfare Department, the Chief Minister also made E-launching of 835 Nand-Ghars (Homes) and various Seja Centres, to be built at a cost of Rs.59.87-crores, in Gujarat.

 

He also made E-launching of Nand-Ghar Information Tracking Application and Dashboard, which would monitor the infrastructural facilities of Nand-Ghar Anganwadis of the state. At the state level, Mr. Rupani also awarded ‘Mata Yashoda Awards’ to winner women, who are taking care of children at Nand-ghar anganwadis of the state. While winners at district and tehsil levels were given away the awards by Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nitinbhai Patel and other ministers and officials.

 

Others who spoke on the occasion, included Mr. Ganpatsinh Vasava, Women and  Child Development Minister, Mrs. Manisha Chandra, Secretary, Women and Child Development Department, and Mr. Ashok Sharma, Director, ICDS.
