Chief Minister at Gujarat Travel & Tourism Award-2020, launches new website - “Gujarat Tourism to blossom into kaleidoscope of 16-phase artistic Service Sector, with new initiative like Heritage and Rural Home-stay”




 

Gandhinagar, Friday: With recently announced new concepts like Heritage Tourism Policy and Rural Home-stay Policy, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani here today expressed his resolve to let Gujarat Tourism blossom into multifaceted kaleidoscope of 16-phase artistic Service Sector.

 

Speaking at a webinar to mark the Gujarat Travel and Tourism Excellence Award-2020 organised by Gujarat Tourism Corporation on the eve of World Tourism Day on September 27, he said that Gujarat has a wide range tourists spots archaeological and heritage sites to natural beauties like vast expenses of white Rann of Kutch. The state government is committed to promote and popularise these sites into the global tourism map.

 

Mr. Rupani listed the Statue of Unity, Mahatma Gandhis birthplace Porbandar, Gandhi Museum at Rajkot, National Salt Museum at the Dandi beach, Dandi Kutir at Gandhinagar, Uparkot, Rani-ki-Vav, Adalaj Vav, Modhera Sun Temple, Dwarka, Somnath, Buddhist Tourism Circuit as some of the best tourism sites and destinations for globe-trotters.

 

Even as the tourism and travel sectors are the most hit due to global pandemic novel coronavirus COVID-19, Mr. Rupani said that Gujarat Tourism has adopted a policy to come out of the transition, to survive and yet make it vibrant, maintaining the adage of Jaan Hai To Jahan Hai’. This sector has been given a new look to attract tourists as well as provide employment to more youth in rural and remote areas.

 

The Chief Minister also launched the novel and modern website with a new campaign Bano Savaya Gujarati’. He complimented the award winners and thanked the hotel and tour operators, jury members and others for making the event a success.

 

Tourism Minister Jawaharbhai Chavda and Minister of State Vasanbhai Ahir also spoke on the occasion.

 

Tourism Secretary Mamta Verma presented the Best Landscaping Tourist PlaceAward, which the Statue of Unity won, to the Chief Minister.

 

The award winners are: Best Five Star Category Hotel (1) Hyatt Regency, Ahmedabad and (2) Marriott, Surat. Best Heritage Hotel: (1) Khirasara Palace, Rajkot: (2) Balaram Palace Resort, Banaskantha. Best Inbound Tour Operator: (1) Harsh Travels, Ahmedabad, (2) Garha Tour and Travel, Ahmedabad. Leading Tourism Initiative by District: Akshayavati Riverfront to Narmada District. Special Contribution to Tour-Travel-Tourism Sector: Mahendrasinh Mikewala.

 

Those present on the occasion included Union Government Tourism Secretary and Additional Secretary, Ms Jyotsna Suri of FICCI, Jury members P.K. Laheri, Vinod Zutsi, Nasir Rafiq and leading hoteliers, tour and travel operators.

 

Gujarat Tourism Corporation MD Jenu Devan proposed a vote of thanks.
